Traveling to India is almost like visiting a foreign planet. This is at least how it can be experienced when you face the extreme culture and living conditions that the country with more than 1.3 billion people possess. At home, people shook their heads as we talked about our plans for three months’ maternity leave in Goa. We soon found out that it is very few people, who dare to take their six-monthold child on such an adventure. And yes, admittedly, it was certainly not without challenges. But then again, how many can look back on their maternity with memories of white sand between their toes, daily culinary experiences, morning swims in the Arabian Sea in this time – what might be the most important time in your life – when you experience parenthood for the first time and the strong bond between parent and newborn is seriously created.
